Remembering my girl Solstice, honoring her, and letting go of remorse.

It was so hard to let you go to sleep, and I wished so hard that there was a "Jackson Galaxy" in Colorado.  You had been through so much, and I felt like I failed in my obligations to you.  Remorse is not a kind friend.  Then I discovered Paint-Your-Pet at Painting with a Twist. I reserved my spot at the event, and emailed your photo to their artist.  The artist sketched your visage onto canvas, and worked with me at the event to try to do justice to your likeness as I worked through nonstop tears to get paint onto the canvas. It was very cathartic.  Soothing. And while my painting of you is certainly amateur, it was my absolute best to try to honor you.  I will keep you by my heart forever.
