Book review: Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron

One of the most beautiful and heart warming books I've read in a long time. Myron poignantly describes how, despite the pervasive idea that we're the ones rescuing animals, it is really us who the animals are rescuing. Myron's voice is that of your closest friend confiding in you about her life's trials, Dewey's trials, and how this amazing little creature made life bearable at times when life's struggles felt the hardest. Myron is also closely tuned in and able to see Dewey's impact on those around him...there are many store and shoppe pets in cities around the country, but not all are as giving of themselves as others. Relationships are supposed to contribute to your life, and Dewey added sparkles that hint of the angelic. This is at the top of my pet book list, followed closely by Oogy: The Dog Only a Family Could Love  and The Daily Coyote.
