growing and changing

As much as I've always adored animals, especially cats (considering companion animals), and as much as we all adore babies of any species, I've never felt compelled to raise kittens or puppies.  I didn't want the hassle, responsibility, etc.  I sure didn't want to do that much work. My own kids and companion animals are grown up enough that life has eased in so much as they are more independent. I don't have to worry about feedings and potty training and weaning, among other things.
These little creatures changed everything:

Being part of their lives, from birth to the present, is truly enlightening, and so incredibly joyful. I can't sit in front of the TV without doing something else (at least reading a magazine) but I can sit and watch these babies forever. Their shananigans, scampering, springing, playing, snuggling, loving, their every breath.... I can watch for hours. Nothing else commands my attention so desireably the way these precious, tiny lively creatures do. All sleepless nights forgiven! One cannot hardly be angry at such cuteness and joy. I cannot recall when I last felt this kind of joy.
